UPDATES ON FEDERAL ISSUES

Most educators are accustomed to paying close attention to what is occurring in Springfield. ISBE and statewide advocacy groups consistently work to keep district leaders – superintendents, boards, principals, and teachers – informed of the latest topics at the Statehouse. When I was a local superintendent, I rarely needed to worry about what was happening in Washington, D.C.

But as the Trump administration continues to take actions that are deeply disruptive, irresponsible, and damaging, it is now essential to update you on federal issues that will affect all school districts and schools this year, and potentially for years to come. In addition to reaffirming our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, Illinois also continues its historic investments in our public education system.
