ISBE SIS 2008 Conference Calls for Assessment Correction and ELL Data Collection

The Illinois State Board of Education invites Superintendents, Principals, and staff members involved with the collection and the maintenance of student data in the ISBE Student Information System to participate in one of two (2) scheduled conference calls to review and discuss the following Student Information System (SIS) topics:

2. 2008 ELL Data Collection

Three hundred lines will be available on each of the scheduled dates below and will open 15 minutes prior to conference times for registration.

Student Information System (SIS) Early Childhood Pilot Telephone Conferences

The Illinois State Board of Education has scheduled two (2) telephone conference calls to discuss the following topic:

• Early Childhood SIS Pilot 2008

The ISBE SIS and Early Childhood Pilot Participant Community are invited to participate in one or more of these sessions.

We encourage district and regional superintendents, principals, child care center directors, other ISBE Pre-K program directors and all of those involved in submitting Early Childhood Pilot data to the Student Information System to participate in one or more of these conference calls. The conference call on March 18th has been developed for school districts and others with previous experience with the SIS. The conference call on March 19th is designed for those with no prior experience with the SIS. We recommend that child care centers, community organizations, higher education facilities and regional offices of education participate in the March 19th call.

All ISBE Early Childhood Pre-K programs will be required to record student enrollment and exit data in SIS beginning in the Fall of 2008. This system will replace the previous pre-k student record data collection.

ISBE Student Information Systems Training

Materials Needed: PowerPoint (updated 8/13/07)

The Illinois State Board of Education will be conducting training sessions for SIS users who have never attended a training class or for anyone who would like a refresher course covering SIS on-line and batch functionality, including the creation of Comma Separated Value (CSV) files. Each half-day session is designed to demonstrate the features of this system as well as demonstrate how to create a CSV file. School districts are limited to two (2) participants.

There will be six (6) training sessions held at 3 locations -- Springfield, Rockford, and Rend Lake College. These sessions have been scheduled during a 3 week period beginning Tuesday, July 31, 2007 and ending Thursday, August 16, 2007. Each training session is a half-day session with one morning and one afternoon session held each day. The sessions are scheduled as follows:

• Springfield Tuesday July 31, 2007 to Thursday August 2, 2007
• Rockford Tuesday August 7, 2007 to Thursday August 9, 2007
• Rend Lake College Tuesday August 14, 2007 to Thursday August 16, 2007

The morning session will be held from 9 AM to 12 PM and the afternoon session will be held from 1 PM to 4 PM. An online registration form and logistical information for each session, including directions, is available through the above link.

Please note that there are limits on the number of participants for each session at each location. Sessions that fill up will not be displayed again.

Assessment Score Conference calls

Purpose: The purpose of these conference calls is to provide School Districts with the information they need to correct their 2007 Assessment information using the ISBE Student Information System and to provide critical and final dates for corrections.

Topics: We will present the timelines and process for correcting your student assessment data for ISAT, PSAE, IMAGE and IAA. We will also discuss when 2007 AYP will be calculated and when printed reports will be in school districts.

Who Should Call In? Please have any of your assessment and/or data people call in to receive this important information as well as to ask questions. It is important that those in charge of assessment corrections have the dates and deadlines.

SIS End of Year 2006 and Planning for the 2007 School Year Telephone Conferences

2. Changes in the data to be submitted next fall (school year 2007); and
3. Revisions to the Enrollment Entry Type and Enrollment Exit/Withdrawal Type codes to be used during the 2007 school year.
