Work Experience and Career Exploration Program

The federally funded Work Experience and Career Exploration Program enables 14- and 15-year-old youths to explore career possibilities while they accumulate credits toward graduation. The program is aimed specifically at helping dropout-prone youths to become reoriented and motivated toward education and to prepare for the world of work. It is intended that services provided through the program, such as basic education development and enrichment and career education, coupled with work training experiences provided by the private sector, will lead to improved self-image and/or will motivate students to continue their education after they reach age 16 and to remain in high school until they are graduated.
