Private Business and Vocational Schools Student Records
All private business and vocational schools are required
to keep permanent records suitable for transcript purpose
for fifty (50) calendar years after the student has left the
school. If you need a copy of your transcript, you should
contact the school you attended. In the event the school no
longer exists, contact our closed school records by writing
to the Illinois State Board of Education, Private Business
and Vocational Schools, Closed School Records, 100 North First
Street, Springfield, IL 62777 or by fax to 217/557-8392 to
submit a written request for a transcript. All requests must
be in writing. Please include the name of the student, school
name, social security number, date of birth, year attended
or graduated and address to where transcript is to be sent.

This listing contains those schools that are now closed and
turned over student academic records to the Illinois State Board of Education.
Public Non-Public Student Records
Public school records are maintained by the district in which
the school was located. Students need to contact the district
directly to obtain information. If the school is closed, students
need to contact the Regional Office of Education for that
particular county the school was located. Former students
from the City of Chicago should contact the Chicago Former
Student Records office at 773/535-7722.
Non-Public records are maintained by the schools. If the
school has closed, please contact the Non-Public Schools Unit,
at the Illinois State Board of Education for further information
at 217/782-2948.
Consumer Information
Any student or employee of a school approved
by this Act who believes he has been aggrieved by a violation
of this Act shall have the right to file a written complaint
within one year of the alleged violation. The State Superintendent
of Education shall acknowledge within 20 days receipt of such
written complaint. The Superintendent shall issue a written
finding as to whether there is good cause to initiate disciplinary
proceedings in accordance with the provisions of this Act.
The Superintendent shall furnish such findings to the person
who filed the complaint and to the chief operating office
of the school cited in the complaint.
