Child Nutrition - Additional $0.06 per lunch starting October 1, 2012
Good afternoon National School Lunch Program Sponsor:
Section 201 of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 provides an additional $.06 per lunch starting October 1, 2012 for schools that are certified by their State Agency to be in compliance with the new meal pattern* regulation. We are writing to inform you that the USDA recently released information regarding the process states will undergo for certifying schools to receive this extra $.06 reimbursement. The process requires schools to input menu information into worksheets, then submit to the IL State Board of Education (ISBE) for review and certification. We want to assure you that ISBE's Nutrition Programs Division has already begun developing a plan to assist schools in inputting the necessary information.
Please stay tuned! As technical assistance plans are finalized, we will send updates via e-mail as well as post at under What's New at http://www.isbe.net/nutrition. In the meantime, if you have questions, please contact our School-based Nutrition Staff at 800/545-7892 or email@example.com.
Information on the new meal pattern, including a recorded webinar, is available at http://www.isbe.net/nutrition/htmls/nslp-hhfka-fbmp-ns.htm. In-persons trainings are ongoing through June; registration is available at http://www.isbe.net/nutrition/htmls/workshops.htm.
