Education Funding Advisory Board to Hold Second Meeting

Chicago, Ill. – The second meeting of the state’s Education Funding Advisory Board will be held at 1 p.m. Oct. 7 in Room 16-503 at the James R. Thompson Center.

The Education Funding Advisory (EFAB) Board makes recommendations to the General Assembly on funding levels for school districts with a high volume of children at or below the poverty level.

In May, Governor Pat Quinn named five members to the advisory board. They are: Sylvia Puente, Board Chair and the Executive Director of the Latino Policy Forum; Dean Clark, a former board member of ISBE and EFAB as well as the National Association of State Boards of Education, Arthur Culver, Superintendent of Champaign Unit 4 School District, Ed Geppert, Jr., President of the Illinois Federation of Teachers and Ken Swanson, President of the Illinois Education Association.
