State Superintendent to Recognize Rockford-area Schools on Illinois Honor Roll

Annual list recognizes improving and high-performing schools across the state

LOVES PARK – Illinois State Superintendent of Education Christopher A. Koch will recognize 19 Rockford area schools Wednesday, May 6 for being named to the Illinois Honor Roll in 2008.

The schools will be honored at 10 a.m. at the Boone/Winnebago Regional Office of Education in Loves Park.  The schools to be honored are from 7 districts; Belvidere Community Unit School District 100, Harlem Unit District 122, Rockford School District 205, Rockton School District 140, Kinnikinnick Community Consolidated School District 131, Winnebago School District 320 and Durand Community Unit School District 322.

Earlier this year, the Illinois State Board of Education announced that 989 schools were named to the 2008 Illinois Honor Roll in recognition of their continued academic progress
