New teachers and administrators can benefit greatly from the expertise and guidance of experienced educators. As such, standards-based teacher and administrator mentoring programs are an important component of an educator's development, and critical to a comprehensive approach to educator effectiveness.
- FY 2016 New Teacher Induction and Mentoring Program Grant RFP (8/12/15)
The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) seeks to provide funding via competitive grants to provide support for programs of intensive support and mentoring for new teachers as provided in Article 21A of the School Code (105 ILCS 5/Art. 21A) and ISBE rule governing New Teacher Induction and Mentoring (23 Ill. Adm. Code Section 65).
Teacher mentoring and induction includes all practices and policies that encompass new teachers’ experiences in their early years. ISBE funds new teacher mentoring and induction programs as part of its grants for educator quality and support.
