Student Transportation Program (School Bus Driver Training)

This program administers activities and provides services in the following areas:

student transportation operations;
provides training and certification of school bus driver instructors;
develops and provides Illinois School Bus Driver Training Curriculum for school bus drivers;
facilitates federal, state laws, and State Board of Education rules and regulations related to student transportation;
development of an Administrator's Manual and accompanying materials on pupil transportation safety, laws and rules and regulations;
works with the school bus industry to communicate best practices in student transportation;
provides direction and evaluation tools to determine school bus route hazards;
works with other federal and state agencies to provide safe student transportation and safe bus riding practices;
developed a special needs transportation resource document and infant, toddlers and preschool transportation resource document; and
developed a student transportation resource library for school district administrator/transportation director.
