General State Aid

Fiscal Year 2015 Foundation Level: $6,119

The distribution of General State Aid (GSA) to Illinois public schools is determined by a statutorily defined formula in 105 ILCS 5/18-8.05. This formula provides for different methods of funding allocation, dependent primarily on upon the equalized assessed valuation of property within a particular school district. Explanatory documents on the mechanics of the formula are provided in the FY 15 GSA Overview and GSA Basics files. Individual district GSA Claims and attendance data may be found at the link below for GSA Inquiry. Additional drop down menus are provided that list calculation data used to determine GSA and forms to be used for projecting individual district GSA claims for the next year.
