Common Core Application to Students with Disabilities (NGA/CCSSO)
Teachers, Administrators, District and School Leaders
The National Governors Association Center for Best Practices and the Council of Chief State School Officers strongly believe that all students should be held to the same high expectations outlined in the Common Core State Standards. Students with disabilities - students eligible under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) - must be challenged to excel within the general curriculum and be prepared for success in their post- school lives, including college and/or careers. The resource attached to this page outlines a few ways the Common Core State Standards apply to Students with Disabilities.
