English Language Learning

Program and Services

State Transitional Bilingual Education

Experience has shown that public school classes in which instruction is given only in English are often inadequate for the education of children whose native tongue is another language.

The State Transitional Program of Instruction (TPI) and the Transitional Bilingual Education (TBE) program provides supplemental financial assistance to help local school districts meet the extra costs and helps school districts meet needs of these children and facilitate their integration into the regular public school curriculum.

Samples of parent notification and home language survey forms are available on our Forms and Notifications page.
