ISBE DELL E-Broadcast 2011.206 – English Language Learners: ACCESS for ELLs™ Student Data


As the 2010-2011 school year comes to a close, the Division of English Language Learning seeks your assistance to resolve discrepancies or omissions in ELL student SIS data as a result of the most recent administration of ACCESS for ELLs™.

Attached, please find a memo that will be mailed to Illinois school districts that report English language learners

As a preview of actions to be taken by your district, responsible administrators should:

  1. Review their ELL rosters to ensure that all identified ELLs are correctly identified as Limited English Proficient (LEP) in the Student Information System(SIS); 
  2. Ensure that all students identified in SIS as LEP are included in the Assessment Correction File (the correction window closes May 25, 2011); and 
  3. Enter a reason for not testing every student identified as LEP in SIS who did not participate in the annual ELP testing (ACCESS for ELLs™).
