ISBE DELL e-Broadcast 2008.131 - Bilingual Conference for Parents of Children with Special Needs Announcement

Dear Educators Serving English Language Learners:

This note is from the Division of English Language Learning at the Illinois State Board of Education.

The Committee for the Integration of Latinos with Disabilities and the De Paul University College of Law/Special Education Advocacy Clinic are sponsoring their 6th Annual Building Bridges to Independence Conference: Empowering Communities, Individuals with Disabilities, and Their Families. Interested educators are invited to attend. The conference this year will include educational presentations on advocacy, employment, and government benefits. Additionally, a special separate track on Autism will help parents navigate the maze of treatment and educational options. A Defeat Autism Now (DAN) doctor is slated to discuss the latest advances in biomedical treatment options and a special education attorney will present on the educational rights on children with disabilities. This will be a bilingual conference (Spanish/English). Additional details are found below.
