Nonpublic Elementary and Secondary School Recognition

Beginning with the 2008-2009 school year the Nonpublic School Application for Recognition and Calendar will be submitted as a web-based application.  The Application for Recognition and Calendar is available in IWAS for recognized nonpublic school administrators, school document authors, and Regional Office of Education personnel to submit the applications and calendars electronically in a timely fashion.

The submission deadline for the 2008-2009 Nonpublic School Application for Recognition and Calendar has been extended until September 1, 2008 due to the application and calendar being released after the school year ended.  This extension is only available this year and will not be reoccurring in the future.  The 2008-2009 Application for Recognition and Calendar must be submitted via the IWAS system by this extension date.  No paper submissions will be accepted.

Schools that are out of compliance for failing to submit the “Student Heath Data – Immunization” and the “Nonpublic School Registration, Enrollment, and Staff Report” for the 2007-2008 school year will be allowed to submit their Nonpublic School Application for Recognition and Calendar for 2008-2009.  However, this submission does not guarantee state recognition for the 2008-2009 school year.  The administrators of the schools in this situation will be required to meet all the requirements for nonpublic school registration for the 2008-2009 school year prior to receiving state recognition.

A User Guide is available for your reference once you log into the application and calendar web pages or by clicking the following link:  ftp://help.isbe.net/webapps/NonpubRecognition/UserGuide.pdf.  To access the application and calendar in IWAS, login to your account and click on System Listing (located in the menu on the left-hand side).
